What We Can & Can't Take (The Complete List)

One of the most common questions we get is 'will you take ___?' The short answer is almost always yes. Here's the full list of what we take, what we don't, and what to do with the items we can't.

What we take (the long list)

**Furniture** — sofas, sectionals, recliners, loveseats, dining sets, tables, chairs, dressers, nightstands, headboards, bed frames, armoires, china cabinets, desks, office chairs, bookshelves, entertainment centers, patio furniture.

**Mattresses & bedding** — mattresses (all sizes), box springs, bed frames, pillows, comforters.

**Appliances** — refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, microwaves, water heaters, AC window units, small kitchen appliances.

**Electronics** — TVs (all sizes including old CRTs), monitors, computers, printers, stereos, gaming systems, cables, cords.

**Yard & storm debris** — branches, palm fronds, hurricane debris, fence sections, broken pots, old playsets, swing sets, trampolines.

**Construction & renovation debris** — drywall, lumber, flooring, cabinets, countertops, doors, windows, toilets, sinks, tubs, fixtures.

**Specialty items** — hot tubs (with disassembly), pianos, pool tables, sheds, swing sets, riding mowers, ATVs, kayaks.

**General household** — boxes, clothing, toys, books, holiday decorations, exercise equipment, bicycles, tools, lawn equipment.

Where to take the items we can't

Charlotte County residents can drop off hazardous household waste free of charge at the **Charlotte County Solid Waste Resource Recovery Facility** on Zemel Road in Punta Gorda. Propane tanks can usually be exchanged at any hardware store or gas station that does swaps.
